The Honmaru-Goten, located in the area where the Nagoya Castle stands, was partially restored this year. The news went viral in Aichi prefecture where my family lived so we went to check it out. I didn't know why it was such a big deal, but when I saw it I understood why.

Before it was burned down during war it was set as national treasure so it was decided to be restored in 10 years staring from 2008.

Not only the architecture design of this palace is beautiful, the technique and material used to restore this place is exactly the same with how it was build in the first place, so dating back to 1615!!! (Wow!)

Present craftsman who only mastered the traditional techniques were allowed to conduct this restoration and you can see the delicate skills on their works.

It felt so special to walk through this refreshing wood smelling hall and see all these craftsmanship. Knowing that if I were in that period on time when this palace was first built, I will never have a chance to walk here... that was something special!

Checked out the Nagoya castle too. The complete version will be opened to public on 2018! Can't wait!
