TEMPERED GLASS WORKSHOP @ KATHY'S〈強化ガラスワークショップその①〉

モザイクのキャシー先生のゾウさんをお手伝いしたお礼に強化ガラスのワークショップに誘っていただいたので２日間に渡るコースの１日目を受講してきました☆他の人は約１万円チャージらしいけどなんとノーチャージで♡ありがてぇ😆💕 そもそもTempered Glassという車のサイドウィンドウと同じ衝撃が加わると粉々に割れるあのガラスにはとても興味があって、今進行中のこのプロジェクトの背景にも使いたいなーって思っていたのでかなりいいタイミングでのお勉強なのです！（これの青い背景ね↓）

(Kathy has invited me for free tempered glass workshop because I helped the elephants so I was super excited to join the 2 day course. Tempered glass is usually used for shower doors or car windows which with the right amount of pressure it breaks down into bits and pieces. Since my pan for my current project was to use tempered glass for the blue background, the offer was in perfect timing!)

なのでちゃんと早起きしてパロアルトへ❗

(So I managed to wake up early and headed to Palo Alto.)

１０人くらいみんな一緒に受講。だいたい知ってる人だから甘えられる。笑

(Maybe around 10 people group. Knew most of them so that was awesome.)

今回はベースとガラスの間に色んなものを挟んでモザイクにしていくもの。とりあえず勝手がわからないからいつも使わない色とか選ぶ。

(For this project, we were to place these cool papers and glitters in between the glass and base hardy board. I had no idea how it would turn out so we were recommended to go outside our comfort zone.)

でも結局ブルー。これが下地の色を塗って、ラメのせて、砕いた強化ガラスを専用の接着剤ではったもの。全部透明だから見えにくい。

(But I choose blue anyways, lol Painted the board blue, apply glitter, and paste tempered glass with blue. Everything is clear so it was hard to see what's where.)

そのあとはグラウトで周りをうめていく作業。ここでは普段絶対に使わない色ってことで冒険してみました。

(And then grout it later on. So this time I decided to use crazy colors.)

うめた完成形がこんな感じ！ガラスの大きさ、貼り付ける感覚の広さ、グラウトの色、下地の色合いでかなり質感がかわるみたい！

(And this is what you get after grouting. Seems like the size of glass, where you place them, color of grout and the base color combination could bring out so many possibilities.)

初めてなので特に上手くできた感覚はないけど、ブルーのほうはグラウトの色を変えればかなり今回の作品の背景に合う青の深みが可能になりそうな手応えを感じたので結構満足です❗明日は２日目💕

(Not saying I'm saticified with these pieces since it was my first time, but if I did the blue one with blue or darker color grout I might be able to get the depth of the night starry sky on my bigger project so in that way I'm super satisfied. Day 2 tomorrow!)
