FRIDA KAHLO MOSAIC FINISHED🌺〈フリーダ・カーロのモザイク完成です✨〉

モザイクは３作目とかなのにかなり放置していて全然完成しなかったフリーダ・カーロのモザイクがやっと完成しました✨やっぱり終わらせるのって大事。。。笑とにかくこの頃はメキシコのデルカボに旦那と旅行にいって、メキシカンインスパイアというか、カラフルな色が飛び散ってるのっていいなぁーっと思って作り始めました☆彡

(The Frida piece I have started long time ago finally finished yesterday. Yup, it's important to actually finish a piece! Anyway, I was so inspired by the colors and patterns I witnessed at San Jose Del Cabo in Mexico when I visited there with my husband and wanted to do something colorful.)

というか、もともとモザイクにする気はなくて当時うけてたセラミックの教室でフリーダの陶器的なものをつくろうとしてたら割れてしまったのでモザイクにピボットしたのであります❗ぱきぱきだぁ。

(First of all, I wasn't thinking about making a mosaic piece at the beginning. The aim was to just make a Frida plate or something at the ceramic class I was taking at Mountain View. And it CRACKED!)

それに合わせてタイルもスタンプで作りました。この時スタンプと粘土がくっつかないように挟んだのが便座シート。笑

(So decided to pivot to mosaic and made these tiles too. And what I used the stamps from sticking to clay is toilet cover sheet!)

焼入れ前の色付け状態。タイルもドバっと絵具を載せてからスポンジでこすって綺麗にするので色付けも簡単でした。

(This is before firing after coloring. Tile painting was easy too.)

そして焼きあがったのを土台の上に貼っていく。これが去年の夏前くらいかなぁ。

(Then attached the fired pieces to the hardy board. This was probably last summer.)

そして長い間放置し、去年の年末に貼り付け作業が完成。なんかイメージでフリーダの頭の中から色が爆発している感じにしたくって色んなタイルやガラスを使いました。ただ結局放置しちゃった理由は自分の中で欲しいタイルを追求しちゃってたから。結局そんなものはないんだから、あるもので工夫しようと落ち着きました。

(Then after several months of not doing anything, I finally finished the gluing part. I wanted al these colors to be bursting out of Frida's head and it went well I guess. The main reason why I left it for so long is because I was looking too hard to find the RIGHT piece, which I later find out it is just impossible. You just have to use your brain to work with what you got.)

そして先日のパロアルトでのグラウト作業。みんなにもフリーダ久しぶりだねって言われました。笑　グラウト直後はまだ乾いてないからグレーがかってる感じ。

(So I grouted yesterday at Palo Alto. Everybody was like, "Hey Frida! Long time no see!" Grout looks gray cause it's not dried yet.)

そして完全に乾いた後日。やっぱり背景白だと色映えるー❗

(After a day when it's completely dry. The color is showing very well!)

セラミックとかガラスとか色々組み合わせてみてよかった。楽しかった。

(So glad that I used many kinds of materials, ceramics, glasses, tiles. Fun.)

初期の作品だから今とは趣向が違うけど、この頃の冒険感が溢れててなんか好きな作品です。楽しかったなぁ。

(Since it's my young piece, I don't plan to do anything similar like this anymore, but I can still remember the excitement and enthusiasm I felt back then. Definately one of my favorite. t was fun.)
