I was so glad to have a whole day to enjoy the beauty of Shirakawa-go this summer. This UNESCO World Heritage Site in Gifu prefecture, Japan gives me this feeling I was glad to be a Japanese. Hidden deep in the mountains, this village is famous for the "Gassho zukuri" (roof with particular shape) which the traditional Japanese culture feeling still remains in this area.

Some houses remains as it is to be viewed by tourists, some are renovated as cafes. The images are taken on May, which was perfect to capture the beautiful young leafs. This riverside was also breathtaking!

The whole village area are well maintained and I was so lucky to see the professionals recovering one of the roof.

This is one of the sites where in every season there are different impression. Especially it is famous for the winter view, where the village will be fill with pure white snow. Here's the overview you can see by taking the free bus to the top.

Must visit place indeed! Ahh I can look at these pictures forever...haha
