MOSAIC WORKSHOP 3rd WEEK 〈モザイクワークショップその③〉

After an inspiring experience in my 2nd week of Mosaic Workshop, I was super excited about the next week. Since it is going to be my 2nd piece that I'm gonna work on, I wanted it to be something special and unique. So I mainly worked on the sketch this week.

"Night on a Galactic Railroad" a novel written by Kenji Miyazawa around 1927 is one of the my favorite inspiring story of all time. The beauty of the night sky combines with mystery of death have captured my imagination when I was little and never let me go. So I decided to portrait the concept of this story by making the train itself run toward the cross in the night sky.

Anyway, since I have decided this to be a big piece, I have struggled picking and combining the "right" blue color of the sky for 3 hours... Almost got exhausted by at the end it came out all right. This will probably take couple of months to complete but looking forward to it!

前回のワークショップがあまりにも楽しかったので、今週はほとんど固まった次回作のアイディアの下書きと色校正の計画作りに専念してました。デザインのイメージはというと、宮沢賢治の銀河鉄道の夜がすぐに思い浮かんだので、すぐそれに決めました。最初この物語を読んだ時は意味がわからなかったけど、夜空の美しさと死の怖さが印象深かったのは覚えています。とにかく、スケッチが終わりそのあとは肝心の夜空の色を決めるのにいろんなガラスのピースをはめたり見たりして、納得のいく夜空の色を決めるのに３時間もかかってしまったー！このペースだと数ヶ月かかりそうな気がします。けど楽しみ！！！
