WATCHING SUMO MORNING TRAINING SESSION〈相撲部屋の朝稽古見学〉

I am a huge fan of sumo wrestling. So one of my personal motto is "When in Japan, you GO watch Sumo. When outside Japan, you record Sumo." There are 6 Grand Sumo Tournament in a year and I used to go to 4 of them every year. YES it is expensive (If you want good seats), YES it is worth it and YES you can feel the enthusiastic Japanese spirit here. But if you want to experience sumo but want to do it without paying, go watching the morning training session is a good idea.

I have visited the one in Nagoya (Before the Grand Tournament in Nagoya ; July) and it was awesome! The wrestlers will start a concentrated training before 1 week of the tournament. In Tokyo, they usually do it at their own Sumo Room, but if it is in Nagoya, Osaka or Fukuoka they will usually stay at some public community center. So in the early morning they will start their training which is free to watch. HERE are some basic info you want to understand before going because there are strict rules when you watch. (If you do't follow they will probably escort you out.) You can see a different vibe of strength in these training and it is worth watching.

大相撲の大ファンであるがために一時期は年６回行われる本場所のうち４回は行っていました。（たまに１場所２回とか。。。）なので「日本にいるなら両国へ行き、行けないのであれば録画しろ」的な人間です。笑　もちろんお金もかかるけど、行く価値あるし、なにより日本人の心と熱気を感じられる場所だとおもっています。なので、本物の相撲の技は本場所にありと思っていましたが、この前始めて行ってきた名古屋場所前の朝稽古はなかなか良かったです。東京場所の場合はもちろんそれぞれの相撲部屋で行われますが、地方場所の場合も宿舎、神社や公民館に力士たちは泊まっているので、本場所１週間前くらいからは本格的な朝稽古が無料で見られます。もちろん色々マナーがあるみたいなので、それもしっかり事前に勉強するべきです。たまに部屋の連合稽古なのもあり、すごい組み合わせの取り組みとかも見れてレアなものが見れる確率は高い！けど、特に推進して見学を宣伝しているわけではないので、ツイッターや部屋のHPなどの情報をチェックしていかないと誰もいない！なんてことも。運がすべてですが本場所では見られない雰囲気があって最高です。
