FUSED GLASS WORKSHOP at LOS ALTOS【初のガラスフュージングワークショップ】

ママがサンノゼに来ている間にどうしてもいつも御用達のモザイクスタジオに案内したくって、本当は通常クラスでも良かったんだけど、今回は先生が特別にガラスフュージングのワークショップをやるとのことで申し込んでいってきました！

(So since my mom was here, I really wanted to show her the Los Altos Mosaic Studio at Kathy's, and was ok with the usual meet-up but luckily she was conducting a Fused Glass Workshop so we signed up for it!)

ガラスフュージングとは、カットしたガラスを重ねたり並べたりして模様をつくり、釜で焼いて融合させるガラスアートの一つ。こんな感じで模様をつくりました。

(Glass fusing is how you worked with special glass to cut and create pattern then fire in the kiln to create an glass object. Our lesson was to create a plate so here's I worked with patterns.)

私の初のパターンはこれ。そもそも模様とか柄とか得意じゃないのでかなり悪戦苦闘でした。難しい。絵書きのほうが得意なのでランダムな模様とか苦手みたい。自分が自由な模様を描けないことが判明(；´∀｀) でも初めてにしては頑張った。

(Usually I'm a painting/drawing person so this was pretty hard. But I think I did ok.)

今回はママも挑戦。どうせトロっととけて模様としてベースに馴染むのでもっとランダムに、がポイントらしい。 確かに色使いも美味いです。ママご満悦♡

(Mom was so excited to work on this project. Her theme was "well, everything's gonna melt and become one so let's go random!". )

今回３人参加で模様をつくったら10時間以上焼くみたいなのでまた来週とりにいきます。はて、どうなることやら❗結果がこれ！

(After just laying the glass pieces, it was fired for more than 10 hours. Here's what we got!)

トロっととけとるーーーー！！！！かわいい〜♡

(It's all melted into one--!!!! So cute!)

こっちがわたしの。配合にあまりセンスを感じないですが、頑張りました✨

(This blue one is mine. Not really artistic but it's cute.)

こっちがママの❗やっぱり裁縫とかで色の配合やってただけあってセンスいいい♡

(Here's mom's. Because she has a lot of experience in sewing and quilting, her color combination is perfect.)

初めてのFused Glass Workshopはかなりいい体験になりました。またやりたいな！

(My very first fused glass workshop was awesome. Wanna try it again with more flexbility in my mind tho!)
