I LOVE JAPAN TRIP part5

So on the second day I finally got to visit the place where I truly wanted to visit.

Yes, I have seen it on TV and books but seeing this dome standing around civilized and organized town gave me a complicated feelings.

And I could't stop crying inside the memorial museum.

Below translation : "Please give me water"

But I was so glad to see that people have recovered from the tragedy through hope and love.

Many people are praying and sending thousands of paper cranes from all over the world.

I have not experienced war nor hear much from my families, but was truly moved by President Obama's speech and glad I was here to learn about the facts and believe that we can move forward to the better good:) I hope the world will change like he said. And I thank him for having the courage to come to Hiroshima after 70 years of war as sitting President. I know there were many opinions but personally I felt thankful.

That is a future we can choose, a future in which Hiroshima and Nagasaki are known not as the dawn of atomic warfare, but as the start of our own moral awakening." - Barak Obama

ミーハーな理由かもだけど、オバマ大統領のスピーチに感動して原爆ドームにきました。もちろん教科書やテレビで知ってはいたけど、見たり実感したりしたことはなかったので、日本人として知らないのは恥ずかしいと思い、渡米前の旅行先の出発点として設定しました。整備された現代の広島の町の中に立っているそのままの姿の原爆ドームは異様な存在感をはなっていて、どうしても戦争を経験したことはい自分にとっては「知らない」という小さな理由で居心地の悪さを感じていました。なので資料館の中に入ったときは自分ではその生々しい事実を受け入れられなくて涙がとまりませんでした。でも最後にはやっぱり人って希望と愛で痛みを癒していうのかなと感じて安心したのを覚えています。

まだ理解していない、勉強しきれていない点はたくさんあるけどここにこれで本当によかったです。なので、戦後70年初の現役大統領として広島を訪問する勇気をもってきてくださったオバマ大統領には感謝します。彼のスピーチのように世界が変わればいいなと思います。
